White-Out 2005
2-channel video (projected 8 meters wide), 11 still images, 16 speakers for 16 channel audio
Sound by Norwegian composer Trond Lossius.
A recursive exploration of a site:
1__ Images of the interior of the USF Gallery are taken and processed.
2__ The processed images are hung in the gallery.
3__ Photographs of the images hanging in the space are taken and processed.
4__ A video is derived from these images.
5__ The video is projected in the space.
6__ Still images are taken of the video projection, and hung in the gallery.
The rules were: (1) start where you are, and (2) if you touch anything, step back from it.
The result was: an image of an image of an image of an image of...here, this space.
(Similarly, Trond Lossius' audio was derived from the sounds of the space: air vents, heating, etc.)
